A duolingo 105 score equals IELTS 6.0 and TOEFL 70-75 on Duolingo's official concordance. Not 6.5. Know exactly what that buys:

  • Unlocks: undergraduate programs asking for IELTS 6.0, many US state universities, pathway and foundation programs.
  • Does not unlock: anything asking for 6.5. That needs a Duolingo score of 120 to 125. Read the requirement twice.
  • The test itself: 10-160 scale, one hour online at home, results in 48 hours, around $59. Over 5,000 institutions accept it.
  • Canada catch: universities accept it for admission, but immigration does not accept it for permanent residence. Two different jobs, two different tests.

A Duolingo 105 score is a fine score aimed at the right targets. Do not point it at 6.5 requirements and hope nobody checks the concordance. Sources: IELTS, TOEFL Test yourself before test day: TestReady mock tests with daily streaks.

A Duolingo 105 score sits near IELTS 6.5; universities publish their own conversion tables, so check the specific school.
