IELTS 6.5 With No Band Below 6.0: Which Universities Fit

The ielts 6.5 equivalent club: TOEFL 79-93, PTE 58-64, Duolingo 120-125. With 6.5 and no band below 6.0, you clear:

- Most UK taught masters outside the ultra-competitive tier. - Most Canadian universities for undergrad and many masters. - Most Australian coursework programs. - German English-taught masters, which usually ask 6.0 to 6.5. - US state universities broadly. Top-50 programs often want 7.0+. Sources: IELTS, TOEFL The "no band below 6.0" is the real gate, not the 6.5. A 7.5 in listening does not rescue a 5.5 in writing. If writing is the weak band, drill Task 2 essay structure for two weeks. It is the most coachable section on the whole test.

IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0 is the magic line for most UK universities; one weak band can sink the offer.
